Anabel Ortiz-Chavolla, Director of Federal Programs and School Improvement

Anabel Ortiz-Chavolla was selected as the Assistant Director of Instruction and Student Services in 2009.  Mrs. Ortiz was previously a teacher at Aiken Elementary for six years and Associate Principal of Aiken and Alameda Elementary schools for one year.
Mrs. Ortiz was born and raised in Linares, N.L. Mexico. Her family immigrated to the United States in 1993 and performed migrant farm work.  As a high school student, Mrs. Ortiz attended Payette High School in Payette, Idaho from August through November each year and then would go south to Texas and attend school at Mission High School for the remainder of the school year. She graduated from Mission High School in Mission, Texas in 1997.  Mrs. Ortiz earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from Boise State University in 2002 and 2005, respectively.  She completed her Administrator's License through Lewis and Clark College in 2008.
 "I enjoy working with students, teachers and families in order to provide the best services to individual students," Mrs. Ortiz says. "I have been impressed with changes being implemented in order to positively impact student performance and success.  My most rewarding experience has been to collaborate with my colleagues in order to improve academic student achievement."

In her free time Mrs. Ortiz enjoys photography, traveling, writing, and spending time with her husband and two sons.  Together they enjoy taking trips to Mexico to visit extended family members.
